- Work with two people where you can. One person can handle a small display; large walls are faster and safer with two.
- Keep the printed graphic clean. Leave it in the bag until the frame is standing, or lay it on a clean surface.
Step 1: Unpack and Inspect
Open the carry bag and separate the parts: frame, printed graphic, and hardware such as feet, hooks, and spares. Check hinges and legs for anything bent in transit, and confirm the parts against the packing note before the hall gets busy.
Step 2: Open and Lock the Frame
Stand the collapsed frame on its feet and open it slowly, following the natural direction of the mechanism rather than pulling panels apart. Pop-up frames unfold much like an umbrella and the joints should click into place without force. If a joint resists, stop and check it — a bent strut usually starts with a rushed opening.
Step 3: Fit the Graphic and Tension It Evenly
Most pop-up graphics are fitted pillowcase-style: over the top of the frame first, then worked down the sides. Pull the fabric on in stages rather than from one corner, and close the zip or hook-and-loop strip last. Even tension is what produces the flat, wrinkle-free surface the display was bought for, so take an extra minute here rather than fighting creases all week.
Step 4: Position and Stabilise the Wall
- Turn the printed side towards the aisle and keep the frame out of the walking route.
- Set it on a level floor, or shim the feet if the surface is uneven.
- Indoors, avoid positions under air-conditioning vents that push a draft across the fabric.
- In busy halls or on smooth floors, use the venue's approved anchoring method or add weights to the feet.

Packing Down Without Damage
Teardown is the reverse of setup, and it is where most displays get hurt. Undo the zip, lift the graphic off the frame evenly, fold it along its existing creases, and put it into the bag before moving the frame. Never force a joint, never pack a damp graphic, and never lay a heavy frame on top of the folded fabric.
